Meet The Team
Elizabeth graduated from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina in 2003, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Marketing. Before the ink was even dry on her diploma, Elizabeth moved from her hometown of Lexington, SC to the historic and beautiful city of Charleston, SC, where she began her financial career with the Bank of South Carolina. In 2004, Elizabeth joined an established fee-only financial planning firm in Mount Pleasant, SC, first as the Investment Operations Manager, and later as a Financial Planner.
Soon after completing Boston University's CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certification Education program in 2008, Elizabeth passed the CFP® Board of Standard's Certification Examination, and became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional.The CFP® designation is widely recognized as the gold standard of excellence for personal financial planning. In September of 2015, Elizabeth obtained the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation from the College for Financial Planning®.

After more than a decade in the financial planning industry, Elizabeth founded Gordon Financial, LLC in 2015 with the goal of providing highly personalized and client-focused financial planning and investment management services to the Charleston community and beyond. She believes the key to achieving this goal is by keeping the overall number of clients small, so that every client receives the highest level of one-on-one attention from their trusted advisor.

Mario began his investment career in 1999 with Vanguard in Valley Forge, PA, where he consulted institutions and financial advisors on investment policy, portfolio construction, and Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs). He also held roles as a research analyst, a municipal bond fund specialist, among others during his tenure. In 2003 he earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, and he continues to mentor aspiring Charter candidates and young investment professionals.

Mario relocated to Charleston in 2010 to serve as Chief Investment Officer for a financial planning firm before establishing East Bay, which serves a select group of financial advisory firms as their Outsourced Chief Investment Strategist, in 2013. Responsibilities of this role include continuous oversight of advisor clients’ investments, bespoke strategies for unique situations, client communications, and more.
Mario is Past President of CFA Society South Carolina and Former Chairman of the College of Charleston Finance Department Advisory Board. His approach to investments and the industry has been featured in Investment News, NAPFA Advisor Magazine, South Carolina Public Radio, Advisor Perspectives, and other publications and media outlets.
Mario enjoys early morning basketball games, the Charleston beaches and restaurant scene, and spending summers in coastal Maine. He is an avid traveler and SCUBA diver, but also enjoys the simpler joys of life with his wife Piper, their daughter Pepper, son Santino, and Simba the cat.
